CES Program PhD student recipient of the Richard Fuller Memorial Scholarship

Bahareh Mansouri, a Ph.D student in the CES Program, has been selected as a recipient of the Richard Fuller Memorial Scholarship, one of the McMaster Internal Prestige Scholarships awarded in the 2009-2010 competition. Congratulations to Bahareh and her advisor Dr. Elkafi Hassini on this well-deserved distinction!

Vladislav Bukstynov and Jonathan Gustafsson, Ph.D. students in our program, presented the results of their research at the Southern Ontario Numerical Analysis Day (SONAD 2009) held on May 8, 2009, at the University of Western Ontario

CSE student among winners of a SIAM contest

CSE student John Ernsthausen won the second prize in the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) contest Math Matters, Apply It! which seeks to highlight the role of applications of mathematics in our everyday lives. John submitted a flier entitled "The math behind ... Color Outcomes" about certain mathematical and computational problems arising in color analysis. Update on the 2017 Symposium

The were many very good presentations which made selecting the prize
winners a difficult task.  Based on the advice of a group of faculty
judges,

John Ernsthausen was declared the winner of the first prize, and

Michael Xu was declared the winner of the second prize

(the prizes are giftcards to the campus bookstore).

Congratulations to John and Michael, and to their supervisors Dr. Nedialkov and
Dr. Huang.

Thanks to all the participants for making the Symposium a very
successful event!
